Geographical Introduction
Saghata Upazila Area: 230.61 sq km. Location: 25 ° 028 to 25 ° 146 north latitude and 89 ° 29´ to 89 ° 408 east longitude. Islampur upazila, Gobindaganj and Palashbari upazilas on the west.
Population: 261045; Male 129934, female 141111. Muslim 252364, Hindu 18347, Buddhist 12, Christian 35 and others 26. Reservoirs: Jamuna, Bengali and Kalapani rivers and Telian beel and Badia canal are notable. Administration Saghata Thana was formed in 1905 and it was turned into an upazila in 1984.
